Dear Fellow Residents of Delaware Township,
I wanted to take a moment to catch you up on the trash removal issues that we have all been dealing with over the past weeks.
To start, I must let you know that all residents have individual, private agreements with our respective waste removal companies. Based on that, the Township does not have the authority to make any formal inquiries or complaints on your behalf as a private citizen in a contractual arrangement with the company.
That said, the scope and duration of this matter has brought it to the level where the Township Committee has taken steps in the interest of the health and safety of the community as a whole. Below is a short summary of the actions to date.
– At our Township Committee meeting earlier this month , we authorized a member of the Township staff to make preliminary inquiries on moving to a “One Hauler Solution” for residents. In this scenario, we would go out for bids as a community in search of a single company that would provide garbage service to all residents. Details on that will follow at upcoming meetings, however this would be a long process rather than a quick fix to the current problem.
– I have personally been in contact with the Owner/President of the company, and he has assured me that he is committed to correcting course on service to our residents. He understands the frustration and is working quickly to put their customers minds at ease by providing more dependable and consistent services.
Please know that we will hold them to this commitment, and we will stay on top of this until we are satisfied that the residents of our community are receiving appropriate services to sustain the health and well-being of all. As Mayor, I will stay in regular contact with the leaders of the company to work on speedy restoration of regular services. If you have individual concerns or complaints, please continue to directly contact your provider, even as we work through this process.
