Rich Kiselewsky, Twp. Animal Control Officer would like to remind residents that there is a Board of Health Ordinance (2000-9BH supplement to Section 5 (m) limiting the number of cats to be kept at a residence.
“(m) There shall not be permitted more than five (5) cats of three (3) months of age or over to be kept or maintained on any residential or business property in the Township of Delaware.
For every three (3) acres, a property owner or tenant may keep one (1) additional licensed cat.
This section shall not be deemed to prevent the renewal of any license for any cat duly licensed as of the effective date of this Ordinance.”
Also, residents should be advised that there was confirmation of rabies in a raccoon who attacked a dog in the Route 12 area of the township. Please be aware if your pet is confronted with a wild animal use caution and appropriate care when handling the pet.
